why does have random loss of power on road. Then wait and will start again and be ok.

My liberty wagon has several times had loss of power .Pull over . turn all
off. Wait for several minutes and then starts again. Seems to happen first
thing in morning and also when going up a slight hill leaving home. car is in
top gear but seems sluggish and not normal. drops back to 3rd and then
no power. Pull over and it stalls only to start again after several minutes. No
Check engine light when loss of power occurs. Auto. AWD. Model

Have the codes read and post them here otherwise all we can do is guess.

That would not shut the engine off. Maybe it is a fuel delivery problem. Check the fuel pressure.

Thanks Mark. Fuel pump or fuel pump relay switch? Its only happens randomly. Seems to be first run in morning. Just loss of power going up a slight hill out of town. car is in top gear but seems sluggish. Not normal. Drops back to 3rd gear and then no power. My local mechanic is at a loss to the cause of problem have recently installed new crank shaft position sensor.
