Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 1997 Chrysler Town and country LXI 2 wheel drive.
3.8 motor
221000 miles.

I have recently installed a new power steering pump on my van.
But now it seems i have a shack on the front end. Not a huge one but the wheel still shacks.
I also have a small howl from the power steering pump as well.

I bled off the air from the pump when we added fluid back and im not loosing any fluid now like i was before.

Not sure whats needed next.

two different problems, the shake may be a wheel out of balance, lost its weights, or ice packed on wheel, or sticking brake caliber not retracting, The howl may be some flow restriction from hose or line cooler restriction , not a big concern!

Ok thanks i will check the wheel weights today. We have had some snow but the Van was in the shop for 3 days so the ice/snow in the wheel wouldn't be the problem. I just hope its not the pump it self being its a refurbished one it could be still bad. The steering is really stiff at times as well i should of said that. and it when i first start to move the wheel it has like a catch to it before it turns.

If pump is good, Next point is the rack. Did pump fail or just leak? If it failed, debris could have passed into rack. Causing internal damage.

If the shake/shudder is at idle, turn steering wheel all the way left and all the way right and pull the steering wheel a little more when it stops turning. You will hear pump make noise as this is the pressure relief valve working. This will help work out any air that may be hiding in the system. Do this several times.....

The pump worked as long as you could keep fluid in it. It made noise and howled when it started running low. My wheel weights are fine had them checked today there balance perfectly. The shacking only happens at slower speeds under 45 and it don't shack at all when i turn.
