car wont shift out of 1st gear

somtimes it shifts fine. reverse fine

Sounds like your experancing the typical shift solenoid problems, the best thing to do is have a good tranny shop plugin and run thier stand alone tests, they can determine if it is a solenoid problem, a TCM problem or pressure related, then let you know what it is going to take to fix it.
