I,ve noticed you have a similar problem as two kias i have. A 99 and A 2001, both have 3.5 engines. and the same problem. I suspect the fuel pump in both of these vehicles. All diagnostic information from sensors and computer checked out in both my vans. gonna check the fuel pressure when i get a pressure tester. will post again later.

if its anything like my 2.9 diesel try oxygen sensor on back of fuel pump much cheaper to replace

sorry to take so long to re-post on the kia, but i did find a plugged catalytic converter was in fact plugged. Replaced it and all was restored. This was especially hard to diagnose as i had seemingly sufficient flow at the tail-pipe, but as i would accelerate any openings in the cat was promptly plugged with pieces of my exploded honey-comb inside. This also applied to a 2000 mazda mpv that had come in for same complaint. (no power, idles good and all other systems were working .) Unfortunately the only way to inspect the cat is to remove it, and look inside.
