My 2012 Kia Optima won’t start.

Asked by Lorie Aug 06, 2020 at 10:47 AM about the Kia Optima

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My 2012 optima won’t start.  At first it said key not found so I inserted the key
in the slot.  Then the dash would come on and just flicker really fast but the car
didn’t start.  I took the key out, reinserted it and tried to start it again.  Same
thing.  Third time it won’t even bring he dash on.  Just dead.

My 2012 optima ex has been doing the same thing. Did you ever find out what the problem was?

Same here with an 2012 Optima EX. I am wondering if it might be an issue with a bad brake switch since it seems intermittent?

I had the exact issue as Lorie this morning - 2012 Kia Optima EX. What was the solution? My battery is only 3 years old so I can't imagine that's what it is?
