chevey optera 2008 accerlation is not working car slows down till stop but enginge stays on

A 2008 Chevrolet optera ls Automatic transmission . IT starts with hi idle (not normal).
when car is moving then suddenly an over run of the engine (as if the peddle is pressed hard) . the peddle still accelerates the engine but no power and the car slows down to halt the shaft is still on the D position . To move on again the car must be switched off and turned on again. And the same thing takes place again and again .
The obd2 gave tps switches so we replaced the throttle completely. Is it an engine or automatic transmission failure ???? appreciate any help

HI every one after a long series of checking all the fuel system by swabbing parts between the broken Chevy and a good running one.It turns out a transmission issue. After the entire transmission gear box (automatic one) was renewed .Every thing went just cool and fine .We still have to figure out what was wrong with ATS.I hope this may help in cases like ours .Thank you wish you a peaceful by .
