fueling problem

Asked by bartdekanter Jan 01, 2017 at 10:35 AM about the Land Rover Series II

Question type: General

Ever since I own this Freelander 2 (6 months old with 6.000 km's on the
'clock') I have this problem. When filling up the fuel tank, the nozzle will shut
off while (with great diffiiculty) it will take another 5 liters to fill up completely.

This type of problem is a common with the EVAP system, but on your vehicle the EVAP system is more elaborate. This post here: https://discoweb.org/forums/showpost.php?s=ea933539955bedb86230d69a300b3361&p=145703&postcount=9 (you'll have to copy&paste the link) has a pretty good write-up of how the Land Rover's EVAP system works. You most likely have a bad anti-trickle fill valve or blocked/pinched vent line.
