I have a 68 Galaxie 500 and want to know if a ford torino gt dash will fit in it

I was told they are the exact same sheet metal but the torino gt is uni body and Galaxie is a full frame car. But the thing is I have a fast back Galaxie that looks exactly like a 68 torino gt. In fact I was told the Galaxy 500 was a step down from a torino gt and that the torino was a galaxy body upgraded to a sport model because the Galaxy was a quiet luxury model for the mature crowd. So that's why I can't get why it wouldn't fit. E wheelbase is the same as well.
