WONT START>66 FORD GALAXY
WHILE DOING MINOR UGRADES TO THE GAUGES, I HIT A GROUND
SOMEWHERE AND NOW MY CAR WONT START. IVE CHECKED FUSES,
OTHER GROUNDS, RELAYS, BATTERY...EVERYTHING. STILL NOTHING.
I think you shorted out a wire someplace. Find it.
sounds like the points slipped. Open the distributor cap and turn the car over in nutral with a screwdriver on the solenoid and see if the points are opening when the cam lobe passes. Then if the points are opening replace the cap and pull off a plug wire from a plug and put a screw driver in it to ark it to a body ground or engine ground to check for spark as the engine is turned over with the ignition on. If you have fuel and fire it will run. This is old school and few have the knowledge. If no fire check for a fusible link. These are wires connected to the solenoid that burn on the inside of the isolation. The only way to tell if one is burned is to disconnect and test with a 12 volt test light. If one is found not to be carring any voltage see if the wire will stretch as the interior fuse link is burned.
