1991 E150 5.8 86,000 mi. Cranks, no start

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

About 85,900mi started belching black smoke, stuttering, jerking at 35 m.p.h. and at 65 m.p.h. reeking of fuel. Finally died. Replaced fuel pump, fuel filter, spark plugs and wires, MAF sensor and ignition coil, getting ready to replace distributor cap and rotor. After this thinking of soaking in gas and pushing it down the hill!
Any ideas where to turn next?
