my GMC Safari is not shifting right the jumps into third gear from secondu to
3rd gear it is running really rough all the sudden you can hear like an exhaust
leak or vacuum leak and I don't know how to track it down does anybody have
any ideas on what I should do first should I start with a tune-up or should I try to
read the codes from the diagnostic

You should try reading the codes first before doing anything. After that try a tune up, rotor, cap plugs and cables. also i would recommend some insulators over the wires as they arc all over the place in wet weather. if you could I would shrink wrap all the wires for a nice tight dry fit. also try checking the trany fluid if it is low the trany can slip gears.
