i have a 2004 4.8 silverado that shifts hard 1st to 2nd when driven for 20-30 minutes but when engine is turned off and cooled it will shift just fine

It could be that your transmission fluid is just low. Check fluid level. If fluid is OK, it's probably a faulty transmission control solenoid or speed sensor, and you should have this diagnosed by a trans pro.
