i pulled my aftermarket cd player out of my 99 pontiac grand am (specs chart says it matches) and it didn't work for my 92 lumina z-34. theres a clarion cassette player in it that does work.

The best way to make it work is to take a 9volt battery and test for your speaker wires going from front to rear, and left to right. Then take a 12volt test light and find out which wire is hot all the time, and then find the wire that is hot when your ignition is on. The wire that is hot all the time goes to the wire on the stereo that keeps memory for your preset stations, and the switch hot wire that turns on with your key or ignition goes to turning the radio on/off. Youll have another wire that either goes to an electric anntenna or it can switch on/off a Amp. You might have another one depending on make and model that dims your display on the deck when you turn on your headlights. Hope this helps..
