how to swap a 95 camaro v6 for a lt1
id like to swap my 3.4 v6 to a 5.7 lt1...how do i do that
well do you have a motor? if you do look for a wiring harness and wiring schematic if your looking for an lt1 i have one out of a 96 caprice police package needs freshining up but still
how much for the LT1? and will my 4l60e tranny work? hb the stock rear?
your 3.4 is on a cradle, this cradle will have to be dropped out from the bottom, with all of the wiring harness. the computers and sensors and gauges from a 3.4 to a LT1 are different. the Lt1 will fit with some modifications. There is an also probable chance that you have to cange rear axles from a stronger camaro. The 3.4 liter rear axle is not made to handle the abuse of an lt1 rear axle. The other complicated thing is the wiring through the dash. You would have to practically take the dash out of the 95 camaro and swap gauges so that you can even read your gauges properly. Talk about allot of work. I am dong the same thing to my 2, 97 camaros.
basically...that'd be too much work..and not very cost effective. i might as well find a Z
I had a 1995 Camaro, with the same idea, the V-6 was eating me out of house and home on gas, but after the research I found that too much was going to have to be changed, ie. wiring harnesses, computers, etc., etc., thus being more cost effective to get the actual car with V-8 in it.
best bet is to buy a wrecked z28. need cradle, motor, trans, rear diff, engine harness, ecu, gauge cluster, fan assembly, radiator, drive shaft, brake system. fuel pump, sway bars, interior harness is the same if you get the parts from the same year as your car. this is what is needed to do it right.
too many expensive parts to change, cheaper & easier to buy a V8 car.

Provided you are willing to go to carburetor, alot of this work is eliminated, leaving just the basics like oil pressure and coolant sensors which can be adapted with plumbing. That being said, diff/clutch/Trans will need some beefing. I always put a dual friction clutch like centerforce behind a 350 and they last as well as punch! As for the rest, you wanted power so you were going to get a 4 speed Trans and a posi anyways right? ;)
