i have a VW Polo which is giving problems. I travelled for about 10kms and parked. After 15mins i started it, raved once and the engine shut off. What could be the problem here?

there could be one of many issues. What exactly did it do when you started it and did it do it again when you tried restarting it?

When i started it, the engine switched on and when i pressed the accelerator pedal it raved once and switched off. An auto mechanic looked at it and is saying the car has a shot wire hence why it is switching off. A fuse linked to the computer box is blowing once the engine is switched on.

ok yea that sounds like a short. to rectify find the wire that is shorting and repair or replace it.
