Question type: Maintenance & Repair

How do I change the transmission fluid in a 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier in a model without a
dip stick? Some 1997 Chevrolet Cavalier models do have a dip stick for measuring the
level of  transmission fluid. This is the model does not have a dip stick to check the
transmission  fluid.

To change it you need to drop the transmission pan and drain also change the filter. If your gasket has brass inserts in it you can reuse it if not you can buy one. Then to check it there is a plug on the side of the trans that you pull then you fill till it dribbles out when it's full. I cant remember the location of the plug off the top of my head.
