whst kind of gas regular or premium for 98 monte carlo

Frances - I'm pretty sure regular fuel will work just fine. The mileage, etc for the 98 Monte Carlo is calculated with regular unleaded. I hope that helps!

If it runs ok on regular unleaded ok,but i would fill it with hightest probably every 2 months to clean out valves etc
