Part fell into car battery compartment, is it dangerous?

Asked by Aug 22, 2017 at 01:01 PM about the 2003 Vauxhall Corsa

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I was unscrewing the clamp on the negative
terminal of the car battery when the attachment on
my socket wrench fell off into what I believe was
the battery compartment, I didn't see where it fell it
could also have fell somewhere in the engine bay.
I've tried looking for it and shaking the car about to
hear for it but I can't find it.
Is it dangerous if I just leave it?

Not dangerous, just annoying you probably won't see that part again. i lost plenty of screws and sockets over the years working on my vehicles.

So even if it's sitting there under the battery I should be okay?

Did you try removing the battery to get to part?

I can't remove it because the end of my socket wrench is probably somewhere beneath it haha.
