Question type: Maintenance & Repair

My car wouldn't go over 20 mph this weekend for about 10-
15 minutes then it kicked back in. The next day I drove it
about 100 ft and it cut off. I got a jumped(thinking it was
the battery) it cut on but 5 minutes later shut off. Any
ideas?

I had it checked out by a mechanic and was told it was the alternator the alternator was put in on Friday and Saturday night leaving work it wouldn't start, I got a jump to get home but now it won't turn over. Any ideas?? I don't want another run around from a mechanic.
