Question type: General

Hello Friends
Sorry if I am asking too many questions on the 4runner. It’s because I have never driven or possessed one. Not automatic transmission. I have three questions

1. Has anybody a rough idea of how many miles/km the automatic transmission box in the 4runner can clock before changing to a new one?

2. Are automatic transmissions totally replaced or one can repair them by buying a kit.

3. I read several places that say the ride quality in the Sport Edition of the 4runner is bumpy and rough. Is it very noticeable? I have processed a Ford Explorer 2002 XLS before. Is the ride similar to the Ford?

Regards and waiting impatiently for your useful contributions

most cars would run to 250-300000+ if you take care of them and service the transmission regularly (anywhere from 30-50000 miles depending on manufacturer). Most transmissions can be rebuilt, but if you buy a new onek, you typically get a warranty up to 3 years or so, so that can be worth it- most rebuilders only give you from 30-90 days of warranty. Sport editions by their very nature have suspensions tuned for more spirited driving, so under norman conditions this may feel more bumpy, but they handle the curves better. I hope this helps.
