I had a similar problem with my 01 5.3. I ended up taking it to a GM shop and haveing it scanned and they said there was a glitch in the computer going to the sending unit?

It may be the injector is not squirting right, which would be the computer sensor not telling it to fire at the correct time. Have it checked before going too much further.

Also is there a sensor on the cam that sends a message of when to fire the injectors? These have gone bad in the past.
