Is it safe buying a 2008 GTI with 29K miles that was "Corporate Fleet" owned for its first year?

Asked by Daddyoftwins Feb 26, 2010 at 09:43 PM about the 2008 Volkswagen Golf GTI

Question type: Shopping & Pricing

I'm looking at an 08 GTI from a dealer in CT.  It was purchased by a "corporate fleet", then sold at
27k to a private party, then traded in at 29K.  Makes me wonder why the second owner unloaded it.
It has a 2 years and 18K miles left on original warranty and then 2 more years and 24K added as a
certified pre-loved VW.  Almost 4 years and 42K miles of bumper to bumper (not just drive train).

Advice?

given the warranty and certified status, you should be fine. I have an 09 (same version MK V) and it is terrific. You never know why some people keep a car or why they trade it. If the car as a traceable pedigree and a good warranty then it should be fine.
