I need a starter for my chevy cavalier, if I go to a oull & pay does it have to come from the same year as the car I have?

For example my car is a 99 does the replacement starter also have to come from a 99?

No, just the same engine, but I would recommend buying a new one, you don't know what that starter has been through.

yes, i too will reccomend a new starter. just go to the auto parts store u want an ac/delco starter for an 1999 Cavalier and your engine size. alternate option....if you think it runs ok you can also get a new solenoid and replace it on the existing starter. the copper part tends to oxide at that age.
