Is it coming from the front of the engine or in the engine?

Sounds like you have a lifter tapping. Have you checked your oil level and condition? If it is a lifter tapping add a sea foam to your oil(as directed on the can) and let it idle for about 30 minutes or so.(only idle do not rev it up). Then drain out and replace oil and filter. This will normally clean the hyd lifters and allow them to operate properly and not tap.

You can get it at auto zone or any local auto parts store. But do has directed above as it thins and cleans your engine. Revving your car up while its in the oil is not recommended. Then make sure to change the oil and filter right after doing the treatment. As tuff4x4 stated I would add Lucas oil treatment to your oil when you change the oil and filter.

Sea Foam brand additive stops the factory ticking that almost all Mazda's make. It is a cleaner and does something else that I can not explain, but my engine went from (needs a rebuild) to (sounds like a new engine). I don't add and drain, that is a waste of good oil. I just add 1/2 can and leave it in. It seems to evaporate out after about 2 months, then I add 1/4 can. No more tapping. I've been doing this for about 2 years. I was just about to sell it. It is a 1996 Mazda MVP 6 cyl., 125k

I have a 98 camaro 3.8 v6 after a few minutes of warm up i get a rapid clicking sound. Kinda like a spark plug is off but car runs fine. I hear it mostly passenger side and ONLY after it warms. I drove it home from my shop and it ran fine. Any ideas where to check??
