Asked by Lorettak Aug 04, 2017 at 12:48 AM about the 1999 Chevrolet Blazer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I bought a 99 chevy blazer... And on my way to get
an oil change and before the shop touched my
truck they pulled me to the side and told me i have
a huge problem and that my oil is leaking really
bad running out like water and they couldn't tell
where it was leaking from... Only that its just
leaking on driver side of the car and it was oil all on
my tire as well...can anybody explain to me what
could it most likely be...i do kno that the service
engine light has been coming on and off its takes a
little while to crank up and at one point it kept
running hot...HELLLPPPPPP!!!

By the tire, Which gasket sits over the tire? Sounds more cooling line or oil cooler. Take to another shop that actually works on cars. They just want your money. Some did nothing nuts but got paid. Never use them again. All if any leaks can be found easy they may had someone squirt oil out on it to rick you, check your oil level first before running it. may be trans/power steering/brake fluid leak.

Valve cover, head or oil pan gaskets will not be just pouring out oil all one time with no evidence of where it came from I would also check oil filter and hole in oil pan and radiator.

Trans fluid and oil cooler lines are in and going to the radiator so check those lines ans radiator it self as a leak there can drip down on lower core support ans can drip in front or either tire. all those and power steering in under pressure and can throw fluid out from the source to such places and the radiator fan can throw it out too such places which brings me to the water pump. Look for leaks at gasket/shaft or radiator hoses.

Thx for all your answers....yeah i initially was getting an oil change Jiffy lube is where i went and before he changed the oil he noticed the huge oil leak...could it be that i haven't had the truck oil changed since i bought it back in March....i be so busy with school and work

You never want the oil to become dark/black but will not cause a leak in itself. May need to have someone crawl under it and even use some engine cleaner and clean the engine mostly under it and around sides to clean up the area so it can be found.

check oil sending unit in back of distributor or if it's a 4x4 it has a filter relocating kit, check the gasket & hoses on that near the transmission.
