My 1980 oldsmobile cutless Brougham
Trying to put a engine and my 1980
Oldsmobile Cutlass Brougham what year
engine and transmission or can I keep my
transmission size motors please and thank
Probably a engine from a '78 to '82, but good luck in finding one that is good. If your trany is good, finding the same size engine will bolt right up. May have to look into a re-built engine.
1981 and newer are computer controlled (OBD I) unless you can get a motor from a pick up. They were not, in most cases, until later. If you still have the Turbo Hydromatic 250 or 200 in there upgrade to the Turbo Hydromatic 350. The 250 and 200 were too small and had a very high failure rate. First to go was reverse. HTH. -Jim
Hi Trannyman, it's actually the fifth character of the VIN on this car that tells us what engine the car was born with. Remember, before 1981 VINs were not standardised. HTH. -Jim
LOL, sorry Trannyman but I don't have the breakdown for that. Only what position of the VIN tells us the engine, body style, etc. Sorry! ,-Jim
