2" headers and an Olds OEM air filter w/ "trumpet"
Ok I am putting my rocket 350 back to as close to OEM as I can. I bought
the 1972 cutlass "S" and it had that chrome round air filter that was so cool
to look at. I wanted to get rid of it and I ordered the OEM one . My VIN
stated that it was originally a single exhaust But I have headers. The
trumpet has what I call a "donkey dick"..its that flex metal thing that should
go to the manifold to assist cold weather starts. I live in Texas where that is
normally not an issue. What can I do to "hook" this flex hose (approx. 2") to
the header where there's not that part where the old exhaust used to be?
Punt and just leave the flex hose off?
you need to fabricate or purchase a heat riser for headers, if you don't want to fabricate your own, this should solve your problem, check out the link below. http://www.lceperformance.com/Heat-Riser-Kit-20R-22R-p/1045020.htm
Or take the flapper plate out the air cleaner.
Or wire it open.
In all respect it would work if it was long enough to rest touching the header pipes.
