Why is the motor from a 1960 Invicta throw oil on one side and the other

I have a 1960 Buick Invicta with a 401 325
Horsepower engine had it rebuilt 3 years ago
just started it recently and now the oil on one
side of the engine is not coming up to the
lifters help .

Do you know for sure that the oil does not go to one side or is this an assumption you made because the lifters are noisy? If it sat for a very long time perhaps the lifters got gummed up.
