What would cause a 2001 Chevy Silverado 2500 6.6 Duramax to not want to start without using Starter fluid (someone told me to stop using Starter fluid on it because it would cause more problems) so i'm using gasoline on a rag to get it started, but once it starts it runs fine until I turn it off and try to start it again, what could be the cause it

it could be a few things but i would start with glow plug area make sure glow plugs are working, check fuses and you tube glow plug test there are a few on how to test them. all so glow plug controller
