Question type: Maintenance & Repair

2001 chevy impala stuck in park . shifter is on the steering column. i have
had no problems prior to this with shifting or going into any gears drove
home from work and then went back out today and it wont come out of park.
i have checked the transmission fluid and made sure the column is in place
and locked and checked the fuse for the brake system .no brake lights out
etc. moved steering column to every position tried wiggling it a little incase
something was loose . also made sure brake peddel is pressed down and
the car will start just wont go out of park

1 Answer

The solenoid that runs the brake-shift is probably defective.
