Anyone had trouble with loss of compression on cylinder #4?

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

'02 with 57k miles.  Has an occasional pinging sound like spark knock under acceleration.  Octane boost did not help.  A compression check revealed 210 psi on cyls 1-3 and 100 psi on cyl 4!  Loss of some power is evident.

It has also been steadily consuming more oil.  Now, I need to put in about 1.5 quarts between 3000 mile changes.

Check this site out. It will give you a list of what could be wrong. http://www.autozone.com/UseCase,S001/UserAction,viewSimpleDiagInfo/Parameters,info/getInTheZone.htm 1. Click on "sounds" 2. Click on "pinging" 3. Click on "acclerating" that will give a list of items to check out. Good luck.
