(2002 Chey Malibu) alternator is not charging my battery

Asked by Jared Dec 19, 2018 at 09:06 AM about the 2002 Chevrolet Malibu

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a new alternator and it's working good and have a new battery. When I
startered the car the battery light can on, so I took it to have it tested. They
said the alternator is not charging my battery. Too the alternator off and had it
tested twice but it's good, so I started the car and tested the positive off the
batter to the alternator charging wire, but no power going to each other. What
are all the solutions to fix this problem. Thank you!

Just to add, Did you check voltage at the generator bat terminal, with key off, it should be hot all the time. You don't need to turn on the key. It's the same for D terminal in diagram, fuse protected and hot all the time. You can use a test light or digital multimeter to check for voltage. If no voltage on either circuit, you should be able to track it down. Just my opinion.
