Is the estimated gas mileage close? I had a van that was getting 17 miles a gallon and this one boasts up to 33 on the hiway... anyone know?

depends on type of fuel-depends on type of driving-depends on speed and wind- driving at 55 to 60 will be best miliage- if driving that speed & still poor mileage- if the motor seems to run good it could be map or an o2 sensor - bad driving lots of starts and stops low tire preasure hilly roads air condition and idling, will all lead to really poor mileage. hope this will help!

The EPA fuel mileage estimates are based on optimal conditions (in a laboratory) and excellent driving habits (slow acceleration). My Nissan was rated at 16c/22h, but I basically get 17 no matter what I do and where I drive.

It actually does hit 32 or 33 on the highway, which for a compact isn't that hard to acheive these days.

mainly it depends on the gear. if you have a manual tranny, mileage should be 3-5 MPG more. if your in 3rd gear in auto and goin 50, you will get worse gas mileage than in 4th gear goin 50

I get a consistent 30 miles to the gallon with mixed driving. You'll never get less than 25 with the air conditioning floored and the car loaded with cargo.
