where is the top down button on 2008 convertible bug?

Just bought our daughter a used 2008 convertible bug.  Can't find the button to put the top down.  Its not on the center console.  Any suggestions?

Push the button in the middle Of the overhear roof compartment, then the handle Will drop down. Twist the handle to release the latch mechanism. Then use the button on the center counsel right by the armrest to make the top operate. If the top does not work, then there is an issue with one of the Micro switches in the convertible top system.i hope this helps

push button in at top, a cigarette light will drop down and a rag. light the rag, throw it in the car and walk away. this is the automatic burn feature when you get fed up with vw.

I have manual top. I pull it down, but dies it lock down?? I do not see a place or any click noises when I push down.

I have the same problem. I do not have the infamous button. The manual Isn’t specific on wether or not it is automatic / manual for the top. When I attempt to put down it does not go all the way Im ur lock so can’t use.
