Check gages light

Asked by Lunchlady Jun 16, 2017 at 06:00 PM about the 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

The check gages light comes on, the temperature
gage is at 0. When this happens, it is either cold
out or since the hot weather is here, it happens
when the car has been sitting in the sun all day.
During this accurrence heat will not work when it is
cold and the ac will not work now that the heat is
here. It takes anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour
of traveling for everything to kick in and work
normally. What part should we be looking at to
replace to rectify this? What is going on?

I have this problem also. I took battery ground off for 2 mins. to reset codes. worked fine for a couple days to a week at a time and I have to repeat. I think it might be the temperature sending unit but haven't had time to replace it yet.
