Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Engine has very slight miss fire. ECM code indicates Miss Fire #2. Changed plugs, wire, and finally coil pack. Still same code and engine vibration. Any suggestions?

You could swap the #2 fuel injector with another cylinder to see if the miss moves with the fuel injector. Also a compression test might be a good idea.

Good answer Bob, Thanks. I was hoping to get away with something of less work. specially when the engine has only 83K miles.

If it were mine I would first make sure the injector wiring and connector are good then swap the fuel injectors around depending on how difficult that is on your particular engine. Next I would do the compression test. If it is low on #2 I would suspect a bent or burned valve or a broken valve spring or issue with the intake cam follower(s). Keep us posted on what you find.

Did you change the stud for the coil pack ? It cost 2 grand for me to find that out... if you replace the coil pack replace the stud as well even though you may hear or feel it click in, its a cheap fix

Sounds interesting! I didn't even mount the coil, just zip tied the other coil and toke it for a test drive. In any way, I would not think the same trouble code will come up with another coil, would it?

If i remember right we ended up getting a couple of mis-fires from different cylinders swapped packs and such turns out the stud was cracked and didn't know it till we took it out so from now on i change them both
