what would cause my 08 torrent to make a moaning/groaning sound when i move the steering wheel

mechanic flushed the power steering system, with no success. now he wants to change out the power steering pump. is he just looking or would this be the cause of the problem

Do they have a power steering pump I’m told my 2007 don’t have a pump but has a electric motor
