2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder - Top Opens half way then gets stuck, it won't open or close, I have to manually close it.

Asked by Ashley Jun 07, 2016 at 09:20 PM about the 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder and the top will open half way and
then get stuck. I can't get it to finish opening the rest of the way or to close
back up. It literally turns into a sail on the car. I have to manually get it to shut
when it gets to this point. Any ideas as to what is causing the issue? The
dealership wanted $300 just to diagnose it and they wouldn't put any of that
towards the cost of fixing it. I would like to avoid paying that if I can.

there are switches that are sticking. the problem is they want to replace the whole motor and assembly instead of just the switches and I can't find where to get the switches.
