My oil pressure gauge doesn't work, should I be concerned?

When my truck is off my gauge is at
40, and when it's on and running it's
past 80.
It runs fine and I'm always on top of
oil changes, but I don't know if I
should be concerned about an
underlying problem

Mark and tennis shoes are both right. I'd start with the sending unit. It could be the gauge in the cluster. The clusters from about 1999-2006 in all the GM trucks had multiple gauge/needle problems. I've replaced about 30 of them.
