why would my car stop running

Asked by Aug 16, 2017 at 11:30 PM about the 2003 Chevrolet Malibu

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

OK so i was driving down the road and my car died i had to push it on side of
the road and wait for a jump let it sit there for about 20 minutes with no start
so i checked the valve underneath the power steering and it was spraying
gas because i tried to check if there was a buzzing noise coming from the
fuel pump but i could not hear because i was on a busy road later when i got
towed back to my garage i tried to start it again and it would crank but not
turn over i couldn't hear if the buzzing noise but after a little bit the fuel pump
began buzzing and then the car started for about 10 seconds and then it
died tried this a couple time it would start then die and on the third try it
would not turn over i did looking online some of the people who have the
similar (but not the same) problem suggest that it could be the fuel filter and
crankshaft position sensor and other things prior to like a month prior to this i
went and got my check engine light checked at advanced auto and the guy
came and told me that it was an oil pressure switch said it would not cause
any major problems but im starting to think he doesn't know WTF he is
talking about he also told me something about the O-ring on my gas gap
could be the reason the code was coming up he said he wasn't very sure
