Two parts rubbing together?

Asked by Sgkristen Sep 09, 2016 at 08:14 AM about the 2003 Chevrolet Impala

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2003 Chevy Impala and whenever
I'm driving it feels like two parts are
rubbing together under my feet making
kinda of a rusty sound. It only happens
when I take my foot of the gas and break
and the car is just cruising or I hit a bump.

It could be that your brake pads are worn out

I seemed to have the same problem in my 2008 Impala. Does it make this sound when turning. Any slight adjustment I would make it would make this sound. With speed, it would make a higher pitch sound. Mine was coming from the front Left side.. It was the Wheel Bearing and Hub Assembly . The part itself was $140 @ O'Rileys, and I was charged only $60 for labor. Might look into it. I had this issue for over a year. Not sure if there is a potential danger. There is a way to test to see if it is your Wheel Bearing.. Look up a video. I can't explain it very well. (JACK UP CAR, SHAKE THE WHEEL IN AND OUT FROM THE WHEEL WELL. If it doesn't give resistance, and is able to wiggle back and forth, it needs to be replaced.) I am looking into replacing the other side too.
