Where is the thermostat on a 2008 Saturn Vue 3.5L AWD

Had a coolant leak and put some sealant in the coolant hose and now engine
overheating.

Follow the top radiator hose back to a housing. Should be 2 bolts holding it down.

That is the first place I looked and this is not your typical setup. I haven't been able to locate it yet...

Sounds like it is on the front of the engine near the water pump. Looks like you will need to do some removing to get to it: 1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling. 2. Remove the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement. 3. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement. 4. Remove the crankshaft position actuator magnet. Refer to Camshaft Position Actuator Magnet Replacement. 5. Remove the thermostat housing. Refer to Engine Coolant Thermostat Housing Replacement.
