hi, im not a huge car nut or know much about imports but my buddy is having car problems with his 2008 mitsubishi lancer.

Asked by Anthony Aug 24, 2016 at 04:29 PM about the 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

one day he was telling me about how his car seemed to be lurching
forwards and fighting his brakes and had told him he probably has a misfire
in one of his cylinders. well that night his car completely stopped working.
we went and rented a diagnostics tool and found error codes for a bad
crankshaft postitioning sensor and multiple misfires. so we ordered a new
sensor in hopes that it was the root problem causeing his misfires. we
replaced that but his car still wouldnt start. the engine wasnt cranking over
and the belts were not even turning. so we jumped it and his belts stared to
turn but there just seemed that the engine itself wasnt trying to turn over.
we fully charged the battery at walmart and they said the battery was fine
so we know its not the battery or the alternator. we just got done checking
the sparkplugs incase the got fouled from all the unburnt gass pouring into
the cylinders and they were so we just got done replacing those not even
20 minutes ago. we tossed some seafoam cleaner in the gas and oil and
are letting it sit for abit before we try again but im sure its not going to start.
im at wits end and cant think of what it could be. the only thing i can think of
is possibly the starter, probably not, but possible. any advise or input would
be much appreciated. also i do not own alot of expensive parts or fancy
tools, ive just been doing everything with a ratchet and a pair of
needlenose pliers and thats really all i got.

hi dude, this is most probably down to a poor connection on the starter motor, as power from the battery goes directly to it and then distributed around the automobile, simply remove all connections, clean and the automobile should start up, always seek professional advise from a qualified technician prior to diagnosing a malfunctioning wiring harness, a specialist should sort this for around $350

thankyou, ill have to look into it tommorow when i have time. my father has been a mechanic for over 20 years so i usually run things by him first. were just slowly running down the list of "shit that could be fucked" and just trying to do it myself to save money since my buddy is on a budget.
