Question type: Maintenance & Repair

I have a 2004 Trailblazer and it was skipping really
bad so we changed the plugs and then the catalytic
converter was stopped up and red hot so we took it
off and put a straight pipe on it and it is skipping as
bad as it was to start with what else could be
causing it to skip like that

Plug wires,coil/s,fuel injectors,low fuel pressure,cam sensor,crank sensor,timing chain/belt,ect... What testing did you perform???

A red glowing converter doesnt point to it being blocked... temps are gettin excessive bc of high lvls of gasoline entering the exhaust... fix ur misfire or rich condition and the cat would of went back to normal

If it's "skipping" really bad on the I6 engine, you probably have a blinking check engine light. Any check engine light or codes to pass along to us? Usually blinking ends up being a coil pack on top of the plugs. If no CEL, bad motor mounts can also cause it to feel like it's skipping bad.
