Hello, my name is Brian Sisk. I need help because
I'm having trouble pin pointing the exact problem
with my truck. When I first started having problems
it wouldn't start at all. I took my battery to have it
recharged and it started right up! However when I
drive it now it dies if I take my foot off the gas.
When it dies it makes an odd noise. Kindve like a
vrrrrrrrrrn. It almost sounds electronical but again
I'm not sure. I don't know if its a fuel pump, battery,
or alternater problem. One of the main reasons i
think it may be the battery is because I took the
battery to be tested and they said it was fine.
However they said the battery was "all boogered
up" and the posts were hard to get in. Any words of
wisdom and advice would be greatly appreciated. I
need money very bad and I can't get to work.

yes...the EGR valve takes the exhaust and puts it back into the intake...this is to reduce emissions~ but it sticks and we are in trouble...which just seems to be the case----examine the EGR valve to see if it's not buggered up~ https://www.google.com/? gws_rd=ssl#q=2004+chevrolet+silverado+1500+egr+valve

yes clean your battery, remove the blue/green corrosion with a garden hose and wirebrush...take it apart if you can~ if 10 years old needs to be replaced~

Have your alternator checked. Your battery is just to start the car. The alternator keeps it running. What kind of gasoline are you using? You could have gotten a bad tank of gas. My neighbor ruined 2 lawnmowers this summer using Marathon gas. My lawnmower went tits up until my son drained out the tank and filled it with other gasoline.

I have repaired small engines 40 plus years just like the other guys arei going to say. I can show you what happens it you use any ethanol gasoline even if it says on it that it is ok. Not true. I will look and see if I have a picture of a carburetor I took off a customers mower for the third time in three years.

This is what happened on a Troy Bilt push mower with gas left in it and also using a ethonal product during the season and then letting it set for the winter with a gravity flow fuel system. I have told him every year, but he has been too tight and it wasn't handy for him to get regular unleaded. And it helps to get the 89 octane instead of the 87 octane. It cost him $125 this year and a $100 the two previous years. Wonder how much he saved in getting ethonal gas?

Sorry, got off track. Check vacuum lines, pvc valve and intake manifold for air leaks. Definitely check like the gentleman said about the EGR valve. I use carburetor cleaner to check for any air leaks that are not obvious. You can mist around hoses and fitting, the carburetor base, and other places on the engine and around it. When a air leak is detected the engine will slightly die down. BUT WARNING! Carburetor cleaner is not flammable like gasoline. It to me is more like Diesel as far as flammability. Good luck. BB
