2005 chevey trailblazer

We have had nothing but problems from my 2005 Chevy
trailblazer it was over heating about a month ago so we
replaced the water pump. Now when we turn the car on my
temperature gage is going up to about 217 and when we
turn the car off it sits at about 10 the gage will not drop
down to 0. Does anybody have an idea of what could be
wrong? An is it really over heating or is it just the gage?

217° on the gauge is a bit too hot even tho temp. gauges can be off. It is a good indication that the engine is running warmer. Some shops have an inferred gauge for checking actual temperature, you may want to get it verified. Other causes for the engine running warmer would be a bad thermostat, a plugged radiator, the fans not turning on, and if you did not get all the air out of the cooling system when refilling it after replacing the water-pump.
