Steering Wheel

Asked by Da199531 Feb 12, 2019 at 02:45 PM about the 2005 Chevrolet Malibu

Question type: Maintenance & Repair

Steering wheel taps back and forth while idling.
There is no issue when I turn the steering wheel
slightly left or right. Started a week ago, then
stopped for a few days. I have no issue when
driving or turning the car, just a minor concern.

I have checked for recalls and was told I had the torque sensor replace back in 2014, under a different owner, all recalls have expired. Now with the fix I am having the same issues. I heard there may be a failing bushing in the steering column. But I am now stuck waiting to bring the car back.
