Car gas pedal pressed al the way and car does not repond fully very sluggish Dash alert light on message Check Engine " Urgent" Any suggestions

Thanks Tom That was my inclination One other observation................ The car in question had be regularly fueled with high octane fuel 93 but the last batch of gas is 89 Octane dispensed in error there is still a 1/3 tank left. Would that have been a factor in this sluggish performance?
