I have a 2007 DTS that was overheating. The dealer made a $4500 repair but it doesn't look like the motor was touched. Was I overcharged?

The dealer said I had a blown head gasket. the car took 15 to 20 minutes for the heat to come on. Everything else seem to run ok. I noticed the heat indicator showed the motor getting hot then would cool to the half way mark. When I gassed the car, I got heat, taking foot off the gas It went cold. An emergency alarm went off and my reading said engine overheating - idle mode. Could the dealer have charged me $4500 and only put a minor part in? The motor looks dirty. I would think that some cleaning would have indicated work was done. I fear I may have been ripped off.

With a blown head gasket the engine temp will climb and climb until coolant boils out. It won't cool off because 1000° F exhaust gasses are entering the cooling system
Since my temp gage would cool down sounds like I got ripped off would you agree??
Would there be evidence that the head gasket was replaced?
Yea and as for the head gasket being replaced I would look for silicone sealant at the lower intake manifold and for the clean head gasket tabs to be sticking out.

Take your car and a lawyer to an independent have them check it out and certify the inspection, then, if you were lied to sue the dealership's ass off!

i also buy one 2000 dts ---- with 55000 miles --was overheating problem i fix it and enjoy it till this moment
mine did the same thing and had a small hole in my radiator put a new one in never got hot again see if u got a new radiator if so they got you
Mine barely gets hot over the middle point However... I have to know are my coolant lines suppossed to be hard is it a pressurized coolant system cuz my coolant lines were hard now there soft i literally dont know what the normal temp range is.... Any help would be awesome...
I have a 07 dts with a brand new radiator, fans, thermostat and cooling temperature sensor plus I just had a mechanic flush the cooling system out. It runs good for a whole day with the needle just above half and then I notice the temp gauge rising. I go under the hood and notice my reservoir is boiling but it's still full of fluid. Then after maybe 5 min the fluid basically disappears literally. I can see its wet under the reservoir but cant see from where... I had a mechanic do a pressure test and he said there were no leaks that he could find... please help me. I just bought this car and it only has 90,500 miles... I'm so confused
Jfriendjr......Seeing how you’ve replaced a lot of items, sounds like a head gasket (northstars WILL have a head gasket leek at some time in it’s life). Have a combustion block test done, if it’s leaking. My advice would be to get rid of the car. But, if you can’t bear to part with it, thermagasket $200-300, is a good repair option considering head gasket replacement would run 3500-4500. And if you decide to go with another engine....if it’s NOT a “certified” reman, don’t bother, you’re just asking for the exact same issue.
