poor acceleration

i just brought a 1989 grand prix and the acceleration is poor from the go do u think its the convert

Either Exhaust restriction or low fuel pressure. DO a back pressure test befoe the cat and it should only be around 1-2 inches Easies test is the release the engine pipe from the mainfold and go scooting around town - If its the cat it will have all the power back but of course the local smoky will not like it ... :)
